Defining the Film Noir Movie Genre

The Film Noir is an unusual movie genre in the film world because it is so difficult to define. It is not like comedy, Sci fi, western or romance, which have obvious and definable characteristics. You could say that the boundaries of noir are very tight comparatively speaking, particularly those who confine the entire genre, twenty years from 1940 to 1960, and a particular country, the United States.

The concept was of French critics marked the first by Nino Frank, who remarked in the immediate postwar period a darkening of mood in the Hollywood thriller. The term noir itself is used to make movies, the specific elements and techniques, both technical and describe literary contain. Films in this category are often gangster films, police procedural or detective films or movies that deal with social problems of the day.

The proof of the film noir are still in the popularity of detective stories, thrillers, psychological thrillers and other crime in connection with drama.
